The latest edition of the Stresa Festival (Settimane Musicali di Stresa e del Lago Maggiore) is just round the corner, and the 24 exclusive concerts will, as usual, take us into some wonderful sites around Lake Maggiore.

The 53rd Stresa Festival will start its full cycle on 19 August. Bach's Suites for solo cello will be split over two evenings in the amazing setting of the Eremo di Santa Caterina del Sasso, looking out over the Lake at Leggiuno. Then comes the 'main body' of the Festival, from 22 August to 6 September. This year's theme is Music on the move, focused on the interactions between music and other performing arts, with close attention to new compositions. The program is divided into different parts, all dictated by the rigorous selection of highly qualified professional musicians and groupings. We say 'in movement' in the figurative sense, referring to cinema, theater and multimedial productions, but also to work ideally projected towards the future, including new compositions, some specially commissioned or performed for the first time, original re-elaborations and musical improvisation.
